Ask factories in Chinese. Check the reply before you pay.
For sellers who order on 1688.com without paying an agent. Write the spec in English. Get a Chinese RFQ you can paste into the supplier’s chat. Paste their reply back, and see which lines were answered, which were vague, and which were ignored.
The tool is not on yet. The five phrases below are ready today. The US$19 is a pre-order, not a login you can use tonight.
01
Where direct buying usually loses money
The agent fee is a cut of the order
A sourcing agent is a real service. On public seller forums, buyers say the fee is often 5–8% of the order. On a US$2,000 order that is US$100–160, and you pay that again on the next order. You still depend on someone else’s translation.
Specs get mangled in translation
Many 1688 factories reply only in Chinese. A translation app can turn “matte black, 20 per carton, 304 for drinking water” into something vague. One wrong packaging run on 500 units can cost more than the fee you were trying to save.
You cannot see the factory before you pay
A polished message is not a business license. Before you pay, you want the license, a receiving account in the company’s name, and real photos of the goods and the packaging — not a render. This page does not promise that a supplier is safe.
The 5–8% figure is what buyers say on public forums. I did not measure it, and it is not data from users of this site. There are no customer quotes on this page, because there are no customers yet. Amazon FBA thread · 1688 translation thread

Three steps, once it is built
01
Write the requirement in English
Size, material, color, quantity, packaging, deadline. You write it the way you mean it. You do not translate it first.
02
Paste the Chinese RFQ into 1688
You get a spec sheet and a few negotiation lines, written the way a supplier expects to answer, ready to paste into 1688 chat (Wangwang).
03
Paste their reply back
You get an English reading, lined up against your original list. Skipped and vague answers are marked. A pre-payment checklist sits beside it.
The checklist reminds you to collect these
It does not collect them for you, and it does not decide whether the factory can do the job.
A photo of the business license, with the name matching the shop
A bank account name that matches the license, not a personal account
Real photos and a short video of the goods and the packaging
Carton size, units per carton, and gross weight, written as numbers
Which of your requirements they did not answer
03
A realistic example, written by hand
This is not generated by the product. The product cannot run yet. I wrote an English spec and the Chinese that should go with it, for a water-bottle order, so you can see how specific the RFQ needs to be.
What you write in English
Product
500 ml double-wall water bottle
Material
304 stainless steel, for drinking water. Lid: polypropylene, BPA-free.
Color
Matte black body, plain stainless lid
Size
Height at most 22 cm, diameter at most 7 cm, so it fits a car cup holder
Quantity
500 units on the first order
Packaging
One bottle per white box, 20 boxes per export carton. Need carton size and gross weight.
Timing
Ready to ship within 25 days of the deposit
Also confirm
Whether the matte coat chips, whether the lid leaks, and the cost of a one-color logo
These three rows are an illustration. They are not a real supplier’s reply, and they are not a result from the software.
You asked
Diameter at most 7 cm, so it fits a cup holder
Flag it when
Flag it if they send a photo and no measurement.
You asked
Carton size and gross weight, 20 per carton
Flag it when
Flag “standard packaging” as vague. It does not answer the question.
You asked
Account name matches the business license
Flag it when
Flag a personal WeChat or Alipay name. Do not pay that.

5 Chinese phrases every 1688 buyer needs
Free
Leave your email. The five phrases open on this page.
The address is saved so I can write to this group about this product only. The phrases appear below. I do not run a separate mail program that sends them again. If the form uses a backup service, a confirmation tab may open.
Please send real photos and a short video of this batch. No stock images and no mockups. I need to see the material, the workmanship, and the packaging.
Please specify the packaging: how each unit is packed, carton size (length × width × height), units per carton, unit net weight, and carton gross weight. Write the numbers. “Standard packaging” is not an answer.
04 · When price, quantity, and timing arrive as one blur
Please split this into three answers: the minimum order quantity, how many days from order to shipment for a production run, and how the unit price changes if the quantity or the packaging changes.
Before I pay, send a photo of the business license and confirm the bank account name matches the company name on that license. Please do not ask me to pay a personal account.
Pinyin uses spoken tone changes, so you can read the lines aloud. These five sentences are the free sample. Founding access covers a full spec sheet, not only these lines.

Questions
Is this just ChatGPT?
You can paste a spec into ChatGPT and get a paragraph of Chinese. What you do not get is an RFQ shaped the way 1688 suppliers are used to answering, line by line; a check that maps their reply back onto your original requirements; or a pre-payment list written for this marketplace (license name versus the account you are about to pay). 1688 Brief is that workflow. It is not finished. The sample on this page was written by hand so you can see the level of detail. It is not output from the tool.
Do you guarantee suppliers?
No. I do not visit factories, and I do not tell you a supplier is safe. A fluent reply can still ask you to pay a personal account. The checklist is a list of things to collect before you send money. You decide whether to pay. If something on that list is missing, do not pay yet.
When does it launch?
There is no launch date. This page is here to find out whether enough sellers want the tool. If you pay for founding access, you get an email when it is ready to use. If 30 days pass after your payment and you still do not have it, ask for a full refund.
What about refunds?
Full refund if you are not satisfied, including if nothing has been delivered within 30 days of payment. Write from the address you paid with. I would rather return the US$19 than keep it for a tool that did not help. This is not a promise that a supplier will perform.
Who is this for?
People who buy on 1688.com themselves: Amazon FBA, Shopify, and small importers. It is not a sourcing agency. I do not take a percentage of your order. One person is building this. The tool is not finished.
